How to Approach Change in a Post-COVID World

Calling all transformation leaders!

The ways of working have changed, and organizations have proven transformation can happen much faster than they thought. A recent article from Harvard Business Review cites that companies managed “three years of transformation in three months”.

After a chaotic year of profit improvement through cost-cutting, leaders cannot rely on their teams to continue implementing change based on new and urgent policies.

Rather, as CEOs and upper management prepare for the post-COVID world, they must adopt several new approaches for successful change.

HBR shares a few ways to enhance change initiatives, produce better outcomes, and think like your employees which I’ve summarized here:

  • Understand the variety of diverse team member mindsets
  • Make sure managers and employees understand the reasons for change
  • Visibly engage and involve employees at all levels throughout the transformation journey
  • Tailor the program’s positioning and communication depending on the group

This article provides in-depth analysis of team member mindsets and new approaches to change.

What does all of this tell us? Let’s put it this way: Your next transformation will fail if it is merely some better version of what you did in the past. Instead — given the changes unleashed by Covid, combined with the variations in mindset that our research has revealed among executives — you’ll need to adopt several new approaches to change.
