Not surprisingly as investors demand a corporate response to ESG requirements, CFO's find themselves as the corporate stewards over the governance and investment needs. Working alongside the other C-Suite members, the CFO will likely be the public face of financial reporting on ESG. Moreover, at the direction of the board, the CFO will be shepherding programs impacting the investor community requirements. Much like the necessary rise of environmental protection in the 1970's, ESG will be a critical component of future corporate strategies with requisite compliance and reporting.
