Battery and energy storage partnerships are having their moment with material partnership announcements happening on a regular basis – like BlueOvalSK between Ford and SK Innovation and Ultium between GM and LG to build batteries, or the partnership between VW and Umicore to build cathode components. The rising demand for batteries to power vehicles and support the electric grid is prompting collaborations across the entire value chain for a variety of proven and potential energy storage solutions, ranging from partnerships to secure raw materials all the way to recycling partnerships to address the end of the battery lifespan.
