I had the honor to serve my country as a foreign service officer at the U.S. Department of State throughout my twenties and into my early thirties, with a focus on Latin America and trade policy. There were many times where I would be the only woman around the table—and often was the most junior person in the room to boot. This experience taught me how to express my thoughts in an impactful way that reflected my unique perspective.
As employee number four at McLarty Associates, the newest member of the Ankura family, I have been proud to contribute over the years to creating an environment where diverse perspectives flourish, to the benefit of not only our workplace culture but also to our clients, who benefit from the varied backgrounds of the McLarty team.
On this International Women’s Day, I am most inspired by my colleagues, the women (and men—it takes everyone!) who are in the trenches with me every day working on behalf of our clients. Particularly during COVID, which complicated life for caregivers working from home, the way that our team had each other’s backs made me both proud and motivated to help us all to grapple with the singular challenges presented by WFH, COVID, and kids.
This post is part of a series as Ankura celebrates International Women's Day. We recognize significant achievements, honor traditions, and celebrate our colleagues. We are excited to share the stories of female professionals at our Firm throughout the year.
