Hong Kong is an international city with both local people and expats from different countries working together. We meet clients with different cultures in varieties of industries. As a Chinese woman working in the forensic and compliance industry, I see myself not just as a forensic accountant, but also representing the firm’s brand image, and more importantly, the message I would like to send: helping clients solve their problems, supporting team members to achieve their goals, and making contributions to society.
While we can find many successful women in history as our role models, I think the best role model in life is myself—or if not the best, always trying to be a better one! This role I have is not just in my professional career, but also as a role model for my two daughters. My career goal is to become a female forensic leader in the next few years, a goal that is crystal clear; however, when I think about my life goals, there are many more that I want to achieve. Be a better mom, be a better person, work harder, contribute more, support and help others, build trust and relationships—these are all life goals that we need to constantly work on.
I want my daughters to not just see me as a mom who can take care of them, but also as an independent, strong woman that they can look up to, and as a friend they can talk to when they encounter any difficulties.
This post is part of a series as Ankura celebrates International Women's Day. We recognize significant achievements, honor traditions, and celebrate our colleagues. We are excited to share the stories of female professionals at our Firm throughout the year.
