The American Bar Association recently published a focused article on the labor shortage that came from a collaboration between Ankura and Eversheds Sutherland entitled Good/Any Help is Hard to Find: A Crisis in the Construction and Design Labor Markets.
It is clear the shortage is not only not going away, but market conditions have little impact on the need to fill open positions. The construction industry is one of many industries suffering and there are ways to combat this challenge. Designing labor strategies that more effectively cater to the needs of the workforce allow projects to successfully compete for talent. We are not trying to attract the unemployed as that pool is very small. We need to compete for those already in positions at competitive sites.
